We asked Kirikiriroa Maari by-election 2024 Candidates that we could find email address for 5 questions, only Danielle Marks relied, thank you Danielle Marks. Her answers are in Italic
1. Do you notice less traffic congestion when schools are on holiday? What would make it easier/more attractive for students to take public transport, or walk or cycle?
We need to make it an option for taiohi to take alternative modes of transport. Our cycle lanes are underfunded and not connected. It would be great to work in better partnership with Regional Council to have at least half-price fares back for our taiohi.
2. Is a mode shift away from cars good for children?
For the children that can mode shift away from cars, of course it's good. When we can choose transport options that allow us to connect with nature and our communities, we start to see everything thriving.
3. Do you support a Vision Zero policy for Hamilton’s roads? Yes Are you supportive, in principle, of the Vision Zero philosophy of "Life and health can never be exchanged for other benefits within the society"? - Yes
4a. How often do you walk to local shops? - Often
4b. How often do you cross a road to catch a bus? - Most days
5. Is it right to expect all family members to return home safe every day? - Yes

If candidates are too busy to answer before they're elected, they're even less likely to respond once elected.
